For two months now the Rwandan government has decided to increase the price of visiting the gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park. The price has gone from simple to slightly more than double, from 700 to 1500 US dollars per visit within the Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Faced with this situation, average tourists and average Rwandan tour operators find themselves deprived of the market, as a result they tend to turn to the nearest market in the border countries, namely Uganda and DR Congo.

Already Uganda seems to be more expensive than the Democratic Republic of Congo regarding the visit to the gorillas, because it is 600 dollars while the Kahuzi biega in the Democratic Congo is 400 dollars for the same service. However, this reality remains a simple information if the Kahuzi Biega does not manage to transform this situation into an opportunity for marketing and tourist visibility.

Already a batch of 11 tourists have arrived at Kahuzi Biega National Park to experience this new destination.

The site manager has changed his schedule to receive this first batch of tourists in his office. In his welcome speech he thanked the tourists for their choice and asked them to communicate well in favor of the Kahuzi Biega National Park and its riches that they saw. The Site Chief Director has designated all his guests as Kahuzi Biega National Park ambassadors so that they can intercede in favor of the PNKB all over the world.

At the end each tourist received a 2017 calendar from the hands of the site manager as souvenirs and recognition of their country at this UNESCO World Heritage site in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Towards Rwandan tour operators, the Director encouraged them to direct their tourist clients to visit the eastern lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park. He reassured them that since the night of time Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo have always been sister nations and tourism between these two nations can be one more way to strengthen these relations which date from our ancestors.

As a reminder, the Kahuzi Biega National Park organizes the visit to the gorillas at $400 for foreigners and $20 for foreigners. Foreigners have the possibility to book online and receive an invitation which will facilitate the obtaining of the visa at the entrance of the Congolese territory at 100$.
