From April 25 to 29, the Kahuzi Biega National Park, a World Heritage Site, was visited by an important UNESCO mission.

The delegation was composed of two important personalities, namely Leila Maziz, representative of the World Heritage Center and Edward Wilson, representative of IUCN.

The objective of the reactive monitoring mission was to assess the state of conservation of Kahuzi Biega National Park, update the corrective measures, establish a new implementation schedule and finalize the state of conservation. of the park with a view to its removal from the List of World Heritage in Danger.

On site, the program was strong and busy, working session to present the objective of the mission to the staff of the PNKB, a field visit to tshivanga headquarters of the PNKB, the meeting with the communities living around the Park in Kabare territory, passing the meeting and discussions with the authorities, in particular the governor of the province and the members of his provincial government, to end with a technical work session with the site chief director and his staff; decidedly the hosts of Kahuzi Biega did not have a moment of respite. Accompanied in their work by the PNKB Site Manager, the delegation worked in good conditions, benefiting from the warmth and African-style welcome of their interlocutors.
